Hazım Kemal Ekenel is a Professor at the Department of Computer Engineering in Istanbul Technical University. He received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Karlsruhe (TH). He has over twenty years of experience in computer vision and machine learning with a focus on face analysis and human perception. His research achievements have been recognized by several national and international foundations. He has received IEEE Türkiye Chapter Research Award in 2019, Parlar Foundation Research Award and Outstanding Young Scientist Award from the Science Academy, Türkiye in 2018. In 2008, he received the EBF European Biometric Research Award. Previously, he was one of the co-organizers of International Workshop on Face and Gesture Analysis for COVID-19 @ FG 2021, MULTI-modal Imaging of FOREnsic Science Evidence tools (MULTIFORESEE) Conference 2021, Face Analysis for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (FA4ADAS) @ FG 2019, Turkish German Multimodal Interaction Summit, http://www.tgmis.itu.edu.tr/, 2014, Affective Computing for Mobile HCI workshop, http://www.ac4mobhci2012.itu.edu.tr/, 2012 and Benchmarking Facial Image Analysis Technologies (BeFIT) workshops that were held in conjunction with the ICCV 2011 and ECCV 2012, respectively.
